Private Equity Growth Capital Council Gets Spanked

Yves Smith administers a well deserved Whupping to the Private Equity Growth Capital Council not only for its flim flam scam presentation of the private equity market but its blatant stupidity in going beyond what the marker for BS will bear.

Don't mess with Yves on the matter of private equity!  Ask Calpers what it gets you.

From the link:

"The latest miscue comes in the apparently-obligatory attack on David Sirota for daring to question Rhode Island’s investments in private equity. The Private Equity Growth Capital Council managed the impressive feat of having each of the four key sentences of its rejoinder, featured at close to the end of a Politco newswrap, be flat out falsehoods or so misleading as to be the functional equivalent."

Sock it to 'em Yves!

Cops can't prevent crime, yet they protect us from crime. Why do these truths conflict with each other?

Or, is one of them false? If so, which one?

So, how did these two conflicting truths arise?

David Sirota lands his well placed and deserved wacks  on the Private Equity rascals:

Beat them up David!

Financial crooks rarely get the beating they deserve.  When they do I rejoice and cheer them on.  Informed intelligent investigative reporters that see the crime, document it and present it to the public are the People's Police against the biggest criminals in the country.  Our own Federal police and justice forces are corrupt, on the take and stand aside while we the victim are being assaulted.  They often do the assaulting themselves in the criminal environment that Bill Black talks about.

I long for a super hero TV series featuring the super heroes I have mentioned here taking on the forces of finance and their political toads.  They are vigilantes administering street justice.  That is all we have when the system that is supposed to do that for us, our own system, does not work.

Will the FBI do a real probe or will they be a tool to probe us?

Conflicting truths?  Well, no. Truth does not conflict except with False, I think....
More of a paradox perhaps.
Using the deductive (aggregate down to  granular) or inductive (reverse) analytical approach to the situation I conclude:  "Cops" from granular level individuals to their aggregate level institutions in their role of law enforcement are reactive to crime at the bottom.  Crime after the fact at specified time and place against people and/or property by a perpetrator.  At that same level there is a degree of on the beat crime prevention before the fact.  At the top aggregate level the focus is on aggregated crime, ongoing crime, all the time.  Crime that requires proactive cops focused on prevention of the institute of crime in the future.  The kind of crime where an institution robs people of their property or rights or harms them in other ways in violation of the law.
We have graphic examples of police at the granular level reacting acting as criminals against the public.  At the aggregate level we have graphic examples of institutionally aggregated "police" acting as criminals, often by default or at least from a position of non-accountability or plausible denial.
The press and media are the people's police.  Perhaps their social court of last resort but the aggregated press is as guilty as officially aggregated and tasked law enforcement institutions of a wide variety to undertake a proactive crime prevention role.
At the granular level however there are those that carry a big stick and use it well to punish reactively and proactively the bad boys at both the granular level and aggregate level of naming names and accusing them of crimes.
My heroes.  Unfortunate that they have few counterparts in the institutions officially responsible and accountable for aggregate level ongoing crime detection and investigation and punishment by correction of institutions assaulting us in the aggregate.  We the People.
There are a few working within the institution.  Too few.  They are however our cops.
Bernie.
Elizabeth.
Yves
There is a very thin line of a few brave heroes serving from the matrix of top aggregate to bottom level granular crime prevention and apprehension.  Their professions range from broad to narrow in relation to the problem but they all have the courage to see and do the right thing for us.
There were a few that served before them as well and passed on a legacy.  Maybe they are also a 1%.
But they are our 1%.

David Bowie died yesterday.

And the shame was on the other side
Oh we can beat them, for ever and ever
Then we could be Heroes,
just for one day

We can be Heroes
We can be Heroes
We can be Heroes
Just for one day
We can be Heroes

Q: “What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?”
A: “Living in fear.”
