Object Oriented Digital Money

A university in Brussels has this interesting site:
Object-Oriented Digital Money for Peer-to-Peer Systems

Goal & Research Activities:
The goal of this research is to extend an existing decentralized digital currency framework (such as BitCoin) towards a richer distributed object-oriented representation. “Paying” then means that an object needs to be moved from one device to another in some secure way. Such an extension should be then used in order to implement a complex distributed application, such as a digital couponing system.

More concretely, we foresee the following steps:
  1. Learning about different decentralized digital currency frameworks.
  2. Analysis of the specific requirements for building an object-oriented extension for mobile applications working with digital currency.
  3. Prototype an object-oriented digital currency framework as an extension to one of the existing numeric digital currency frameworks.
  4. Apply the framework to a non-trival digital currency mobile application such as a digital couponing system.
