LPR Parking Systems - Object Oriented Analysis - Privacy

What motivates my interest in LPR Parking Systems?

Lack of more interesting things to do?  I have been retired from the navy for more than 30 years and continue to have fascinating adventures.  In the navy I learned a big picture management approach in the old school "top down breakdown" and "bottom up assembly" model of creating integrated systems.  At the end of my career at the leading edge of system redesign I saw the application relational data base and the beginning of the Object Oriented Design Paradigm.  Not being a programmer but a designer in the "Information Engineering" style I was fascinated by the programming language and studied Smalltalk 80.

If I had stayed in the navy I would have adopted and applied the systems design, implementation and management approach of UML.  During my post navy travels, triathlons and other adventures I continued my fascination with the Information Age that I saw dawning at the leading, bleeding edge when I left the navy.  Therein was an adventure of the mind that continued  as an observer of progress for more than 30 years.  The beginning of my navy career started with IBM punch cards!  The Information Age has come a long ways since then!  I stand in awe of the software and hardware systems of today and navigate the WWW to stay abreast of the state of the art and issues as well as opportunities that arise from such rapid progress.

The Information Age seems to be taking on an organic life of its own as an almost self organizing entity that places the designers of the system increasingly more in a position of users to exploit opportunities presented by the system as the total software/hardware infrastructure system build out.  Applications that have substantial social implications.

Perhaps it is my ingrained "Mission Orientation" that focuses on what the system is doing and intended to do.  The need to always keep the eye on the primarily Ball object purpose as it relates to game in which it is played?  Mission is a thing, not an action.  Actions accomplish it.

Progress of the Information Age has been built on the bottom up system structure level based on the discrete binary representation of symbolic information.  Now a vast amount of symbolic information in our social world has been digitized.  Digital, accessible information that increasingly goes down to another discrete one to one relationship object entity level:  Total information about a discretely identified human being.  That information at the atomic social level has an analogy that is both good and bad depending on the application.

LPR Parking Systems is a microcosm for examining the application of Information Systems to the lives of those that live in the Information Age.  What it does for each and all of the object entities involved from the individual it is intended to serve to all entities related to that service.  Some obviously known and more that are not identified.  There is a potential open door in the total  system for exploitive "computer based social operating systems and applications" that should be subject to control.  Privacy protection for example.

Everything is relational in an LPR Parking System.  My approach is to examine the system as a top level Parent Object and see how all the family member children of the parent relate and behave among each other and how they individually and collectively relate to all other significant Entity/Attribute Object Levels in an Object Oriented analysis to discover features that violate existing higher order social rules, regulations or norms for sub-optimized benefit or identify the need for establishing controls as necessary to correct violations at any level that would be considered "bugs" in the system.

If there are no bugs then the system is validated!

Who, what entity validates LPR Parking Systems on this global object entity basis?

That, perhaps, is why Open Systems and individuals that take it upon themselves to contribute not only to Open Systems but the examination and validation of any Walled Garden, Siloed or  Closed System to the extent that it can be examined and be socially evaluated is something that serves society and the common good in general.

Privacy is a stakeholder Top Level Object Entity in the Information Age that must have a standing and an entity object power structure equal to any entity that would profit from any violation of Privacy attributes.

There is more money to be made in violating privacy than in defending it.  Information Data Mining Systems means to violate Privacy are so far ahead of means to detect and defend it.

What I call "Pick and Shovel" data mining on the WWW  is the tool of an knowledgeable individual to discover the problems in any web based system.

Thank you Sir Tim
