Forest Land and City Land

Keep your Forest out of my City!  Get your Forest off my Grass.

Oregon legislative intent is to prevent urban city land from encroaching on Forestland by erecting a fence to protect it with a tax that operates to reduce pressure on Forestland owners to sell their urbanizing interface property for residential development.  The legislation sees the protection of private and public Forestland as an economic benefit of a major economic source of income employment.  In addition it protects wildlife and the ecology that produces the fresh air we enjoy.

The way Oregon OAR and ORS protect Forestland in Eastern Oregon is a fixed annual value assessment on which local county property tax is computed.
