Reality and Fantasy Intertwine. Which is which?
HBO Westworld is getting substantial pre-release PR. Obviously. It has an interesting story line. It also looks like the interaction of humans and humanoids will be dumbed down to the level of the target audience. That is unfortunate. There is an abundance of thought provoking opportunity in a more cerebral development.
What if CITE city is the next movie lot for a blockbuster Human/Android series?
My prior blog entry about CITE City describes a real city to be built with no human occupants. Built for a billion bucks. How could it be worth that for the potential return on investment? Seems strange to me.
Is Westworld the next GoT?
Lord of the Rings fans want to crowd fund a billion dollar city.
Palestinians Construct Billion-Dollar City on a Hill
Planned to house 40,000 people. CITE city is planned to house 35,000 people but there will be no people living there.
Panama never built a 3 billion dollar city.
Saudi Arabia goes big with a 100 billion but they have the bucks...until recently.
Game of Thrones has 55 episodes at how much per average? 5 million? 8 million dollars?
Build a billion dollar city in the desert just to use for a movie lot? Dual purpose it for actual scientific study?

This deserves some further investigation! There are certainly a great number of entities besides the Head Office of Pegasus Global Holdings occupying "888 16th Street NW, Suite 800"

I also read that Pegasus will provide people in this unpopulated city as necessary for experimentation. I'd like to see the waiver of rights that they would have to sign.
I read a lot of material relating to CITE that I will reference without links. There was too much. I read that the city will not be unpopulated by people. Logically, it has to have people, they are an integral part of the model. That is is what cities are created for. Cite, however, creates the city and then the people to populate it. Those people will be created as models of human behavior. Like people in a computer game but in this case they are modeled people interacting with a real world city environment. An interesting concept upon which to build some speculation as to how it would all work. Artificial Intelligence Deep Learning will no doubt be involved to simulate human beings?
Where will that AI deep learning come from? What will be the source? In a prior blog entry I was fascinated by George Hotz teaching a car how to drive itself by observing human behavior. That is one example of simple machine learning. What if, in a real world environment, I mean a real selected city of about 35,000 people, everything that people did was observed, surveillance is a better word, and recorded for AI parsing to create a model of human behavior?
That leads to some interesting speculation that quickly gets into this CITE city looking more like a Hollywood movie set. Perhaps that is one of the features of the business plan? My imagination runs wild! Westworld springs to mind. It was somewhere in the desert. Life imitates art. Wow, this is fertile conceptual territory to plow and plant some seeds of thought in!
Somebody beat me to that fertile field! Westworld is getting a remake! by HBO. Kinky? It is a 2016 release. This is everything to know about it. "The plot is all about androids breaking free from a freaky, past-and-future-simulating theme park.".......and invading Hobbs New Mexico????
Continuing on this fork in the focus road deserves its own blog entry. It would be fun to play with the concept of real/virtual and virtual/real worlds and their points of intersection to the extent that the audience did not know which was which!
Might that be Turing Test 2.0? this link the Lovelace test you might think it to be. In Westworld however it might be? Its Hollywood after all. Beyond the Turing Test. It is fascinating to speculate about what is out there beyond it.
Holmes and Narver once had a plan for a fantasy city on its website before the company morphed into other companies or holdings. I always wondered what that had to do with any real world construction they did? The idea is alive and well.

Fantastic idea for the plot development of HBO West world. The androids break out of their movie set and invade CITE city, not Hobson. They take over control CITE city and populate it instead of being controlled in the movie set they broke out of! Real people enter as residents of CITE city not knowing that it is populated by androids posing as real people that observe and learn from the behavior of real people. Like they learn how to drive Hotz's car. The twist is that human behavior sometimes baffles them and they reject it not a model to adopt but avoid.

Monetary System Paradigm Shift - Shadows On The Wall With Background Music
Money should be simple. It is not.
Or am I just to simple minded to figure it out. To see it for what it is, not for what it does? I just keep banging away with an object orientation that is my frame in which money exists as a uniquely identified digital dollar existing as a granular instance of the aggregate class of Money. Money distinct and independent of the sole identity of a numerical identity number that appears in an Account. An attribute of balance sheet Account with the same numerically exact and equal value number exists as a negative and positive value that is one or the other in nature, debit or credit depending on who claims ownership.
That seems a simple conceptual structure architecture to me.
However, I have the feeling that even at this simplistic level there is something big and bold just below the surface that I am missing. That everyone is missing. I is like that shark music building in Jaws. Something big is impending that rides in on the back of Monetary System Problem Domain. I can "hear" it ominously coming but I just can't quite see it.
Whatever it is, this is what I think will be its frame. It, whatever it is, will be a paradigm shift. An immediate change as one conceptual structure morphs into another frame of reference. The stage is set by the Information Age that increasingly detaches (by abstraction) the logical conceptual nature of a thing from its prior physical association representation. It makes it easy to change the abstracted concept because it is no longer bound to a physical characteristic that by the nature of a physical association makes it hard to change.
Ideas can change faster than physical things they are attached to. That perhaps is the foundation of creativity. Prior to conception of a thought in the mind an idea did not exist. As a thought spawned in the mind it has no physical link association. The thought then may become invested in a physical object. Every object created by a human being was at one time only a thought. A thought that could change as quickly as conceiving a table or a chair. Once the manifestation of the thought as a real world object began it was increasingly difficult to change the nature of the object from a table to a chair. Conceptually I can change a table to a chair by manipulating it on a computer screen.
Money is a conceptual thing object that can change with the speed of a paradigm shift. Maybe all that is necessary is to cut the umbilical cord that physically attaches it to what it was and make it a totally independent conceptual object from the physical nature what gave it birth.
The last vestige of currency is physical cash.
This is simply an example of a rapidly accelerating trend toward physical extinction that is in the last mile of a long journey.

It is like when I was in Vietnam and a change from one form of physical currency was announced one day and by a specific time the old currency was worthless and replaced by the new currency. Everyone military member was given an opportunity to change currency, one for one. The Vietnamese that had accepted and adopted the old issue MPC did not have that opportunity. We screwed them on more ways than one.
War in its classic death and destruction nature is a good example of the locking together a concept and its physical manifestation. Blow things up. Rape pillage and burn. It is extremely physical.
"However, as Locke noted, the pax victoris need mean no more than the end of actual fighting; in other respects, it still is war by another name." Another named conceptual object that shed the physical binding to objects and their employment in classic legacy warfare. The change was a paradigm shift at a point in time like the 11th hour of the 11th day of November, 1916. Celebrated later as "Remembrance Day". A day when a physical reality became a purely abstract memory in a paradigm shift.
There was a physical mess to be cleaned up. A conceptual mess too. However, when there is no physical binding involved in a paradigm shift, only a conceptual binding then what is the the conclusion? It makes it easy, especially easy because the negative legacy conceptual bindings can be planned for. It is all conceptual.
There is no physical manifestation of a conceptual paradigm shift when people can be manipulated to embrace it.
Maybe that is the ominous music I here building in the background. People were manipulated to embrace the Federal Resrve (after the fact). The more elegant design would have people embracing the paradigm shift before the fact.
Aha! The elegant concept of skinning a cat by inducing it to jump out of its on skin. It takes great cleverness and skill of a magician to do that. They are already skilled at pulling rabbits out of a hat and making us wonder in amazement: How did they do that?
When there is a paradigm shift in the Monetary System we are going to say the same thing. When the good guys make the shift we will know the answer and see the picture. When the bad guys make the sift we will be wondering in amazement: How did they do that?

It is, after all, a business test. What conceptual attributes, methods and messaging capabilities will the conceptual population that inhabit this conceptual city have? Those that they are designed to have?
Who will be the good guys in this conceptual city? The bad guys? Will there be crooks in the city? Will they be eliminated by total surveillance all the time? What money will they steal? Will there be a 1%. Will they be the crooks that design the city? Not if it is Open Source? Not if the inhabitants went to a school that conveyed intelligence to the population.
A billion bucks could build a pretty good city. The Chinese did it with brick and mortar. We can do it with concepts. Whatever concepts are chosen.
This is an interesting thing to watch develop.

TensorFlow
Today I discovered that I am a couple months behind the Artificial Intelligence curve. It was a surprise to me to discover TensorFlow and that Google Opened Sourced it last November 2015. I feel that I keep up in these things in a timely manner but discover that I am a walker in a running race. Running to catch up is maybe always a way to perpetually be an equal distance behind.
Just how far back is the general public in relation to the front runners. I think that there is a big tail end in this race. It is a difficult one and I think that most don't care to be in it, the consuming users at the very periphery interface screen presentation. Games, Netflix and cell phone.
Google TensorFlow:
"Data flow graphs describe mathematical computation with a directed graph of nodes & edges. Nodes typically implement mathematical operations, but can also represent endpoints to feed in data, push out results, or read/write persistent variables."
A Person is an end node at the edge of all this like at the surface of a sphere with a variable degree of understanding of the relationship and operation of the supporting hardware and software below the surface. Comparing it to Natural Language, people know how to use it to communicate with other people on the surface of simplicity. But few (increasingly fewer) use Natural Language to communicate with others via a node at a technical depth of complexity and comprehension inter-related to other nodes in a problem domain such as law, medicine, quantum mechanics, computer programming, etc. Most communicate at a talking to Jack, level you know. If it gets a hamburger at the window what more is necessary?
We talk about a rich 1% and how that effects society. There is a technically intelligent 1% that also has a great power to effect society that does not understand or want to understand complexity.
It looks to me like Artificial Intelligence (AI) will leave Natural Intelligence in the dust. Or will it enhance it?
AI is a fascinating thing. Will it drive our cars or drive us? Where is the drive going? If we do not keep up with it then it might go over the cliff? Some think that is possible.
Meanwhile I continue to chase it trying to keep up with how fast it is going.
Apple's Swift is another Open Source thing. I downloaded the Swift Programming online book available at the Apple Store. I actually got some distance into it, as far as page count goes. As page count increased, comprehension decreased. What page did I get to when I reached zero? Embarrassed to say. Proud however that I got as far as I could. I tried.
TensorFlow looks to me like a Jack in the Box drive up menu and microphone where an order can be placed talking to Jack and then picked up at the window. It simplifies complexity for the user interface requiring little knowledge or work otherwise required to build or even fully understand the underlying structure of node knowledge. Doing something with what is delivered at the drive up window is what restricts this burger stand to those who know what to do with the burger they get. That requires some degree of tech sophistication.
What those techies can do with it is make the user interface at the real world Jack in the Box easier for the burger consumer to use. All they have to understand is "Burger" and "Drive up to the Window" and use their Apple Pay. Applying the military tactic of "standoff capability" they can order a burger while on the way to pick it up with the system computing based on walking, biking, driving, traffic conditions and the wait time of burger orders to compute when the order must be placed in advance to have "just in time" delivery at the window.
Ain't technology wonderful!

Yes, but what is the banksters money making angle on this?
The legacy old school, really old, scam is to make money out of nothing. Then claim that the money from nothing is really something because through the magic of balance sheet accounting there is something (a negative something) on the other side of the equation so there must have been something produced. It balances, it figures. It is accounting.
However the world has changed with the Information Age.
Money can account for itself. It can stand alone without having its negative image to balance it. It can exist as an independent conceptual object with inherent properties that do not depend on it balancing to a negative debt counterpart.
What is in that for the banksters that live on the premise of debt based money? From the prior link:

Hoping Again This Christmas Eve - 2015 - 1914 - 1968

New age war is a one to increasingly many direct relationship that at the same time puts the one that one that has the "finger on the trigger" at an increasingly safe distance from the ones that are killed.

Christmas Eve 2015 - Concept and Conception
This essence of this blog entry was born in the prior entry and continues it as a future hope appropriate to Christmas Eve.
I have needed heroes ever since I was a kid who was taught in Catholic school about the hero that saved the world born this Christmas Eve to fulfill his mission of redeeming a debt placed upon us.
My need for heroes has influenced my life. Since Vietnam my heroes have only had a human nature. Not so much the big "H" hero. That, of course is why a little "h" hero was created by another Empire. The big H can take care of herself. She exists in a different world that may or may not exist.
The world is still in need of saving and it is essential to remember that in the binary duality interceding nature of God and man it was the man as son of God that saved the world. There is no God that will save us from the Empire, just us.
In the most abstract conceptual frame maybe Christmas is not the celebration of an event long ago but a renewal of hope that this year might be born this Christmas Eve the person that will save us from ourselves?
Maybe this is the year? There is no shining star so far away to guide us to the place of birth but there is a full moon.
Hope is a concept anticipating the conceptual and real goodness of a better life to come. In this world and for those that believe in another higher one then the next. It does not come in swaddling clothes but is a spark born deep within our heart. Maybe the spirit of Christmas is the spark born this night that lights a fire of a dream at a dark time.
I think the miracle of Bethlehem was the birth of a concept conceived by a singularity of spirit. It is the concept of Peace on Earth to People of Goodwill.
The Power of the Dream
That is the power that confronts the power of the Empire that was the focus of the prior post. It was the power of a single person long ago. The power of a unification of people of Goodwill today but I really don't have any idea how it will happen.
Just the hope that it does.
Much of the source of power that can confront the Financial/Political/Military/Media power (and use of Power of Fear) held by the Empire today (example) and the few that control it comes from those that hold conceptual values in tune with Higher Power. I can unite with them, at least those that conceptually see the logic and reason secular truth based seamless worldly conceptual path leading through personal door to the beyond that they believe in but can march in unity with those on the same path but ends at that door. We are conceptually on the same path in the frame of real time. It is the same problem domain in the real world as they truly walk the talk toward theirs.
For example: I could walk the same path and talk the same talk of this framing of the nature of things. Is simply a framing from the point of entry of what is beyond the door of time where I frame it from this side of the door. What is the commonality between faith and fact? On the other hand judging from the comments we better depend of a few powerful people of "Good Will" to challenge the Empire and turn the tide. A rainbow coalition of a majority will not.
Maybe the commonality is when they acknowledge and share the same point of entry to the problem of existence in the real world in real time. They just take it one step further on faith?
On Christmas Eve I must be an optimist. No joy to the world otherwise.

There is almost the ring of a Berlin Airlift (the driving purpose of the airlift as well as its singular purpose on Chistmas day) to this report of churches giving refuge to deportees.

My need for heroes has influenced my life. Since Vietnam my heroes have only had a human nature. Not so much the big "H" hero. That, of course is why a little "h" hero was created by another Empire. The big H can take care of herself. She exists in a different world that may or may not exist.
The world is still in need of saving and it is essential to remember that in the binary duality interceding nature of God and man it was the man as son of God that saved the world. There is no God that will save us from the Empire, just us.
In the most abstract conceptual frame maybe Christmas is not the celebration of an event long ago but a renewal of hope that this year might be born this Christmas Eve the person that will save us from ourselves?
Maybe this is the year? There is no shining star so far away to guide us to the place of birth but there is a full moon.
Hope is a concept anticipating the conceptual and real goodness of a better life to come. In this world and for those that believe in another higher one then the next. It does not come in swaddling clothes but is a spark born deep within our heart. Maybe the spirit of Christmas is the spark born this night that lights a fire of a dream at a dark time.
I think the miracle of Bethlehem was the birth of a concept conceived by a singularity of spirit. It is the concept of Peace on Earth to People of Goodwill.
The Power of the Dream
That is the power that confronts the power of the Empire that was the focus of the prior post. It was the power of a single person long ago. The power of a unification of people of Goodwill today but I really don't have any idea how it will happen.
Just the hope that it does.
Much of the source of power that can confront the Financial/Political/Military/Media power (and use of Power of Fear) held by the Empire today (example) and the few that control it comes from those that hold conceptual values in tune with Higher Power. I can unite with them, at least those that conceptually see the logic and reason secular truth based seamless worldly conceptual path leading through personal door to the beyond that they believe in but can march in unity with those on the same path but ends at that door. We are conceptually on the same path in the frame of real time. It is the same problem domain in the real world as they truly walk the talk toward theirs.
For example: I could walk the same path and talk the same talk of this framing of the nature of things. Is simply a framing from the point of entry of what is beyond the door of time where I frame it from this side of the door. What is the commonality between faith and fact? On the other hand judging from the comments we better depend of a few powerful people of "Good Will" to challenge the Empire and turn the tide. A rainbow coalition of a majority will not.
Maybe the commonality is when they acknowledge and share the same point of entry to the problem of existence in the real world in real time. They just take it one step further on faith?
On Christmas Eve I must be an optimist. No joy to the world otherwise.

I admire Larry and salute him as a fellow officer that holds himself to a higher standard. A standard that he once failed to meet but has not only admitted his fault but understands its cause in which he played a part.
I have followed Larry's public progress since he was Powell's Chief of Staff. He has risen from that tragic mistake with restitution. Subsequent to his retirement I had hoped that Colin would also. He is a tragic man that failed and quit.
This video testifies to his clarity of vision and dedication to the higher standard to which he once took an official oath to uphold but courageously continues to do so with honor.

What was Larry's deciding factor?
Torture. He could no longer remain silent. His prior silence was a fault. Silence in the face of something wrong is always a fault. There is no redemption for those that continue to remain silent. While I fault him for his silence I admire him for his post silence honorable words and actions expressing the truth.
His final comment: "Empire never has enough." The USA is a plutocratic Empire.
His solution: A powerful minority is the only force to stand against the powerful minority that created and perpetuates the Empire. The only alternative is a powerful majority.
I see little chance of a powerful majority changing the dominance of Empire and its sources of power short of revolution. The same conclusion that I think Larry expressed in his closing remarks.
The best hope is a powerful minority vs a powerful minority. When the minority that has established Empire USA Has all the financial, political, media and military power what power tools does a challenging powerful minority have at its disposal in the battle?

Merry Christmas is a Block Chain Concept Implementation

There is this rather amusing but so old school thing that the NORAD does every year tracking Santa's progress from the North Pole. He departs and in a single evening on 25 December visits everyone, especially boys and girls (aren't we all).
This is the Information Age! Time for a geek uptake and version 2.0 update!
The first Merry Christmas token in the block chain originates from the North Pole. We are all minters that create more new Merry Christmas bits as a reward for validating and adding to the chain tracing back to the first Merry Christmas created out of Goodwill to All at the North Pole.
This is so much better than Buying the World a Coke!
I hereby officially claim all bragging rights associated with and/or derived from the first entry into the searchable Google data base as of this date/time of the following conceptual expression in quotations:

Sir Santa Claus---Tim Berners Lee -- Merry Christmas!
I wrote the following as a preface to the prior blog entry of the previous day.

The World Wide Web (WWW) is our user interface to the Information Age. The Internet is a back office function that we interface with when we pay our bill to the service provider. To call our WWW user interface the "Internet" is an injustice to the open source gift given to us by Sir Tim. This is a season where we remember a gift given to redeem the world (some believe) and in that spirit we give gifts to others (if that is the causal factor) and receive them from Santa (I believe!) This is what I want to say: Sir Tim has given the world a gift that will keep on giving as it brings the world closer together. Symbolically has had given us the framework structure by which we can all symbolically join hands in unity.
Describing the gift given us by Sir Tim as the "Internet" instead of the WWW is analogous to describing Santa's sleigh that he rode in on as the Spirit of Christmas. "Internet" describes our machines. That too is a gift of many technicians working in the back office like the reindeer pulling the sleigh. We give them credit too. All geeks should be honored with a red nose and at least one song as they guide our sleigh tonight.
Sir Tim is an extremely modest Santa that does not seek fame nor great profit. Maybe that is why we choose Santa as a role model figure of gift among ourselves or bestowing lumps where appropriate. Our ability to do that is gift called the WWW given to us by Sir Santa Tim!
Giving credit where credit is due is a "Thank you" gift. Maybe as I seek to find what money is, not what it does perhaps "Thank you" is our best Medium of Exchange involving credit and credit due.
How can I apply the Block Chain to "Thank you".

Internet plus WWW = InterWeb!

Last night watching a refreshingly simple and endearing Netflix series called "Detectorists" the two main characters used the term "Interweb" in their conversation. Genius! A term that resolves a serious error we have made in calling something that is of great importance to everyone in the world by a name that it is not but a name that gave birth to what is so important to our daily lives.
InterWeb! I like it and it should be InterWeb not Interweb. InterWeb is consistent with generally used protocol of the World Wide Web (WWW) that contracts two words to one word but capitalizes the second word. A protocol derived from programming language that gives us software operating systems and application programs that run on computer machines.
Call the combination of distinct hardware and distinct software connections working together the InterWeb. That is the foundation binary relationship of the Information Age thing we have created. In an Object Oriented manner of organizing things and what they do these are two Super Class Objects; the Internet and the World Wide Web. Use InterWeb to refer to the combination. Internet or WWW as specifically applicable.
I objected in several prior posts to the popular use of the word "internet" to mean the "World Wide Web". The internet is a big computer machine with an operating system and network communication system. The World Wide Web is the user interface application programs that we use on the World Wide Web.
Sir Tim Berners-Lee created the World Wide Web (WWW). DARPA created the Internet by networking computers in a hardware in a TCP/IP communication system. Tim Berners Lee created the WWW of URLs linked by hypertext.
The Information Age the product of many technological advancements from a wide variety of sectors contributing to its progressive advancement. Like the development of tools in the Industrial Age contributed to its output product of trains, planes and automobiles. The end user products that benefited us all. That legacy benefit now being enhanced by application of Information Age technology to give us better televisions and self driving cars and the NSA to do what spy vs spy used to do in Mad Magazine.
The Information Age is founded in large part on the combination of the Internet and the WWW. It is not simply unfortunate that we have chosen to call it the Internet. Logically the same as calling an automobile an "Assembly Line". Putting things in an improper frame detracts from their true identity and relationships. Computers with their operating systems and application programs are something that as a society we need to accurately understand.
The Information Age deals with conceptual objects. Information is a conceptual object system structure of abstract concepts that deliver the thing called "Information" about real things, conceptual things and relationships between real and our abstractions of reality that range in degree from simple abstractions to extremely complex abstractions.
We used to generally know how mechanical things worked. Dealing with "hands on" things was direct knowledge of the attributes and what they did in relationship to other mechanical/physical things. Guys, mostly, understood physical things. Built them, took them apart when necessary, fixed them. Physical things are easy to understand as well as the physical laws related to their properties.
Electric things were a step toward the need to understand things using abstract concepts of electricity that we could not see but could physically manipulate their properties. Things required increasingly specialized knowledge in the Industrial Age. However, they required a degree of knowledge on the part of the general public to understand the "how things worked' at the micro and macro levels.
Electronics launched the Information Age. Along with it came a greater requirement for understanding increasingly distant abstractions of the technology connecting the state of the art to the things that the state of the art delivers to us.
We are no longer educated consumers of the things that we use that are of greater importance in our lives. If we understood to even the most basic degree how things that are increasingly becoming the product of greater abstracted structural design it would benefit us as a society in controlling them for our own welfare and self interest. Not that we all become programmers or Information Engineers. We just need to understand the basic systemic structure. Increasingly it is only the most intelligent among us that do understand the entire system.
An elite understanding of the "Big Conceptual System That Drives Our World" at both the conceptual level and the application system that delivers the product of that elite understanding and control will drive us in accordance with the intentions of the elite if we do not grasp at the fundamental level how it all works.
Anybody can grasp a simple user interface to a complex system. Turn a computer on with a switch. Print things on a screen. Watch a movie. Beyond that? Any attempt to explain a simple way to correct an interface problem that requires the most fundamental understanding of how the system works beyond: "Turn it off then turn it on again and maybe it will work because it does something" is often met by: "I don't want to know how it works, I just want it to work".
End users are becoming "Dead End Users" because the do not even have the slightest idea of what is working behind the simplified user interface that is doing one thing for them but another thing for the designers and operators in the back office operations of what is being delivered. They know that end users do not want to know, or should not know and design accordingly. If anyone is curious or smart enough to want to know then alternate or intentionally deceptive systemic explanations might satisfy most of a small number of those that know at least enough to ask questions.
It is essential to an informed citizenry that we at least clearly understand the top level relationships and interactions of our Information Age Systems. Finance is not a new information system. It has however entered the Information Age just like old legacy mechanical systems have from the Industrial age. The public never had an adequate grasp of how money and finance worked in the first place. It still does not. In the Information Age legacy money and finance systems going back a thousand years are on steroids. There is no hope to understand it all. There is intention not to have the public understand it in the least. They must be uninformed users of the system.
What a thing is and what a thing does is the essence of understanding the nature of the relationship between two things at the granular level, among all things at the aggregate level in the physical real world or reality based conceptual abstractions (to abstractions built on abstractions) of the real world.
Confuse what a thing is with what it does or hide the true attributes of the thing from what it does and we fail to understand it. Curiosity about the natural world, to discover what is over a real horizon upon which the real sun sets is what has motivated us to discovery that placed mankind on a journey of discovery of how the physical world works. Maybe it started with climbing to the top of a tree to get a better view (and abruptly stopped there long ago) but curiosity explored our country and landed us on the moon.
We wanted to know! I'd like to think that the first person to climb a tree wanted to know what was up there and how that knowledge might have expanded their ability to hunt rather than climbing a tree for the first time because they were being hunted?
What has happened that we generally no longer know or have the curiosity to know. It is no longer easy to know the complexity we have created but at least we need to know, need to be curious about the fundamentals of the Information Age systems we have created.
Information itself is a centuries old legacy system expanded and enhanced by technology. Today it is defined by and embodied in the Internet and the World Wide Web.
But..........we do not even get that simple relationship right in the accuracy of terminology and the confused abstract conceptual view that is inconsistent with what the two things are and how they relate.
Reduce things to the granular level and get a binary relationship built on a rock. Expand the granular level to the aggregate level of the two things and the relationship is still binary. Decomposition from aggregate to its base granular level proves the integrity of the systemic structure.
That is the model that I have applied to the a Monetary System. It is the same model that applies to the hardware and software of the Information Age of Hardware and Software binary relationship at the aggregate level (like Internet and WWW binary relationship) that decomposes to this granular level binary for:
Hardware: The presence or absence of an electrical charge.
Abstraction of that physical presence/absence relationship to
Software: Conceptual meaning of the abstracted nature of the electrical charge to expression as 1 and 0 (one and zero).
Application of that simple relationship between Hardware and Software through systemically designed structures that are exact and direct mirror image representations of each other at all levels. One physical, the other its conceptual abstraction.
The sum of the conceptual abstraction is more than the sum of its physical counterpart like the sum of our thinking is more than the sum of the physical brain and its electro/chemical composition that supports abstract thought.
What is the difference between our brain and computer hardware and software?
I don't think our brain operates on the physical presence or absence of an electrical charge. It only operates on presence of something physical. Observing the binary rule of nature: Two real things, not the presence of a thing being defined by its absence, that is the domain of abstraction of reality. Maybe the physical basis is electric and chemical.
The abstract binary counterpart?
That is a mystery but we are curious.
However, the mystery is pursued in the same manner as we are advancing the Information Age. By a clear understanding of the basic relationship and elimination of ambiguity by system design rules.
The rule says: Call a thing a thing in accordance with an exact term definition. Use that strict definition and it meaning at all levels top to bottom with integrated logical extension to all other equally well defined (independently as well as contextually) things in the system.
Using a different view of the same rule it is all about conceptual Object Oriented design and implementation.
Get the Object right!
Internet and World Wide Web. Two different things. Combined to a higher level abstract thing called:

Computers with their operating systems and application programs are something that as a society we need to accurately understand.
The Information Age deals with conceptual objects. Information is a conceptual object system structure of abstract concepts that deliver the thing called "Information" about real things, conceptual things and relationships between real and our abstractions of reality that range in degree from simple abstractions to extremely complex abstractions.
We used to generally know how mechanical things worked. Dealing with "hands on" things was direct knowledge of the attributes and what they did in relationship to other mechanical/physical things. Guys, mostly, understood physical things. Built them, took them apart when necessary, fixed them. Physical things are easy to understand as well as the physical laws related to their properties.
Electric things were a step toward the need to understand things using abstract concepts of electricity that we could not see but could physically manipulate their properties. Things required increasingly specialized knowledge in the Industrial Age. However, they required a degree of knowledge on the part of the general public to understand the "how things worked' at the micro and macro levels.
Electronics launched the Information Age. Along with it came a greater requirement for understanding increasingly distant abstractions of the technology connecting the state of the art to the things that the state of the art delivers to us.
We are no longer educated consumers of the things that we use that are of greater importance in our lives. If we understood to even the most basic degree how things that are increasingly becoming the product of greater abstracted structural design it would benefit us as a society in controlling them for our own welfare and self interest. Not that we all become programmers or Information Engineers. We just need to understand the basic systemic structure. Increasingly it is only the most intelligent among us that do understand the entire system.
An elite understanding of the "Big Conceptual System That Drives Our World" at both the conceptual level and the application system that delivers the product of that elite understanding and control will drive us in accordance with the intentions of the elite if we do not grasp at the fundamental level how it all works.
Anybody can grasp a simple user interface to a complex system. Turn a computer on with a switch. Print things on a screen. Watch a movie. Beyond that? Any attempt to explain a simple way to correct an interface problem that requires the most fundamental understanding of how the system works beyond: "Turn it off then turn it on again and maybe it will work because it does something" is often met by: "I don't want to know how it works, I just want it to work".
End users are becoming "Dead End Users" because the do not even have the slightest idea of what is working behind the simplified user interface that is doing one thing for them but another thing for the designers and operators in the back office operations of what is being delivered. They know that end users do not want to know, or should not know and design accordingly. If anyone is curious or smart enough to want to know then alternate or intentionally deceptive systemic explanations might satisfy most of a small number of those that know at least enough to ask questions.
It is essential to an informed citizenry that we at least clearly understand the top level relationships and interactions of our Information Age Systems. Finance is not a new information system. It has however entered the Information Age just like old legacy mechanical systems have from the Industrial age. The public never had an adequate grasp of how money and finance worked in the first place. It still does not. In the Information Age legacy money and finance systems going back a thousand years are on steroids. There is no hope to understand it all. There is intention not to have the public understand it in the least. They must be uninformed users of the system.
What a thing is and what a thing does is the essence of understanding the nature of the relationship between two things at the granular level, among all things at the aggregate level in the physical real world or reality based conceptual abstractions (to abstractions built on abstractions) of the real world.
Confuse what a thing is with what it does or hide the true attributes of the thing from what it does and we fail to understand it. Curiosity about the natural world, to discover what is over a real horizon upon which the real sun sets is what has motivated us to discovery that placed mankind on a journey of discovery of how the physical world works. Maybe it started with climbing to the top of a tree to get a better view (and abruptly stopped there long ago) but curiosity explored our country and landed us on the moon.
We wanted to know! I'd like to think that the first person to climb a tree wanted to know what was up there and how that knowledge might have expanded their ability to hunt rather than climbing a tree for the first time because they were being hunted?
What has happened that we generally no longer know or have the curiosity to know. It is no longer easy to know the complexity we have created but at least we need to know, need to be curious about the fundamentals of the Information Age systems we have created.
Information itself is a centuries old legacy system expanded and enhanced by technology. Today it is defined by and embodied in the Internet and the World Wide Web.
But..........we do not even get that simple relationship right in the accuracy of terminology and the confused abstract conceptual view that is inconsistent with what the two things are and how they relate.
Reduce things to the granular level and get a binary relationship built on a rock. Expand the granular level to the aggregate level of the two things and the relationship is still binary. Decomposition from aggregate to its base granular level proves the integrity of the systemic structure.
That is the model that I have applied to the a Monetary System. It is the same model that applies to the hardware and software of the Information Age of Hardware and Software binary relationship at the aggregate level (like Internet and WWW binary relationship) that decomposes to this granular level binary for:
Hardware: The presence or absence of an electrical charge.
Abstraction of that physical presence/absence relationship to
Software: Conceptual meaning of the abstracted nature of the electrical charge to expression as 1 and 0 (one and zero).
Application of that simple relationship between Hardware and Software through systemically designed structures that are exact and direct mirror image representations of each other at all levels. One physical, the other its conceptual abstraction.
The sum of the conceptual abstraction is more than the sum of its physical counterpart like the sum of our thinking is more than the sum of the physical brain and its electro/chemical composition that supports abstract thought.
What is the difference between our brain and computer hardware and software?
I don't think our brain operates on the physical presence or absence of an electrical charge. It only operates on presence of something physical. Observing the binary rule of nature: Two real things, not the presence of a thing being defined by its absence, that is the domain of abstraction of reality. Maybe the physical basis is electric and chemical.
The abstract binary counterpart?
That is a mystery but we are curious.
However, the mystery is pursued in the same manner as we are advancing the Information Age. By a clear understanding of the basic relationship and elimination of ambiguity by system design rules.
The rule says: Call a thing a thing in accordance with an exact term definition. Use that strict definition and it meaning at all levels top to bottom with integrated logical extension to all other equally well defined (independently as well as contextually) things in the system.
Using a different view of the same rule it is all about conceptual Object Oriented design and implementation.
Get the Object right!
Internet and World Wide Web. Two different things. Combined to a higher level abstract thing called:
InterWeb.

Stumbled over this fascinating presentation while wandering the WWW this morning:

The basic system structure relationship is similar to Unix and Small Talk. Two different languages built on two methodologies. The similarity emerged the more I got into the presentation.
The debt based monetary system is the legacy established system. In the later part of the presentation Stephen says: It is all just code that has meta data. I see the monetary system design as one built of positive money that has Object Oriented Class and Instance of a Class attributes, methods and communication messages. Debt aspects of money should be a State of Condition as applicable to Positive Money. Not the basis for the monetary system.
We have "Unix" money but within that monetary system structure its meta data can be viewed as Object Oriented. It is not a Problem Domain that must be either debt based or debt free based. Either my way, the debt based way or the highway. There is no alternative (TINA) to the balance sheet foundation. That is an accounting thing. If money is given top level abstract object treatment as in an Object Oriented System it can account for itself through block chain triple entry book keeping.
Randall Wray should be invited to bring his dogmatic legacy TINA thinking over to the side of more structured system design and implementation thinking of the Information Age that builds a better taller tree structure to get to the moon.
He won't.
His structure is nothing but meta data. With serious internal faults depending on what it is intended to accomplish. Faults that would be features to the designers. Serious bugs to the user community. However since it is meta data like Unix there are thing more appropriate to Small Talk type object orientation within its TINA meta data.
Digital currency is one of those. The object foot in the door that only knows functional design and implementation.
It is a complex thing to see in the simple view of Unix/Small Talk, Object/Function.

Debt Free Money and Banana Republics

I give both links so as to encompass what are perhaps the best range of thoughtful comments on what he wrote.
Perhaps, and most certainly as a matter of fact given an eternity of time, if I continue climbing like a monkey up a tree to get to the moon by writing in this blog about what money is then I will get to my destination.
It requires a high degree of parsing make sense of the preceding sentence!
It is a truth, (I believe that because I heard it said?) that Pi contains every number string possible. Somewhere in the very long string of Pi numbers is my telephone number! My telephone number would pop up, depending on probability somewhat sooner than the number representing the national debt.
It is a truth that if my fingers bang away on this keyboard like a monkey typing on it that some day, (might take a long, very long time)..... that someday I would type out the exact explanation of what money is. I would type it out at the granular level reduction of what money is first (probably) on the scale of a time line. The full explanation of what money is as documented by a pure operating system (no ambiguities) and pure application programs that run on that system would emerge over the following course of time in increasingly accurate approximations of the pure and structurally perfect Object Oriented Monetary System.
At that point of purity Money would probably no longer be necessary as a medium of exchange. We would as a human society have all our wants and needs satisfied without it. That point? When the world comes to an end!
"The Pope continually asks Michelangelo: 'When you will make an end of it?' and the answer of Buonarotti is invariably the same: 'When I'm finished!"
L. Randall Wray is a monkey climbing a tree to the moon! He reached the top of his tree long ago when he proclaimed that he had reached the moon and it was not of green cheese but a balance sheet. There is a logical if/then in this analogy but more important is the granular singularity of the position that he puts himself in. That position is dogmatic absolute certainty of his economic framing and defense of his framing of Economics as the One True Frame. It is the given, the absolute, the only Way.
In defense of the One True Frame (because it is) all else is heresy (because it is) therefore those that have alternate points of entry to the Medium of Exchange problem domain are to be ridiculed or burned at the stake.
There is nothing beyond the perfection of the Balance Sheet to create money. In the beginning there was the Balance Sheet and the Balance Sheet was.......and it was with......and there are no other........Ok! that is a statement halfway up the tree to the moon. Fill in the blanks to get to the top and join Randall there eating the bananas and laughing at the creatures crawling on the ground ignorance with no understanding of what is the truth at the top of the tree.
On the time line of dogma truth there comes paradigm shifts in the perception of the problem domain of truth. Shadows on the wall is something I have reference in prior blog entries. Shadows on the wall is the same as sitting as the monkey at the top of the tree thinking that Randall is on the moon. "Mission Accomplished", said another monkey in chief.
St. Paul was called Saul before he fell off his horse on the way to the bank. Paradigm shift! He saw it all in a new way and instead of persecuting he championed. Randall should get off his high horse!
One of the comments on what Randall wrote basically said: "Ok, Randall, mansplain to me Bitcoin".
Float like a butterfly and elegantly sting like a bee!
If debt based is the only viable conceptual foundation object upon which the operating monetary system and all of its application programs are to be structured on.......

How can an alternate concept foundation based on a positive conceptual foundation absent a mirror image on the balancing non-existence of the same object be possible?
Let the monkey at the keyboard type on toward eternity to give us the answer to that one. In time there is an answer and it is a better system. The Information Age is all about reduction in time necessary for the answers to emerge from a better technology to define the structure of a conceptual problem domain object, all of its internal object relationships and the methods and messages of those objects at the granular level.
Bitcoin is positive money. Or not. It is binary. Or, it is not binary. That is what objects are reduced to. Binary relationships in the real world. Matter and Energy. Only in the conceptual world of the human mind can the nature of "nothing" mean something by the absence of the same given thing. That is the mysterious gift of human consciousness that sets us above all other creatures in time. The next step for humans is eternity where a debt, if the gift of life is viewed as debt, is ultimately paid back, with judgment as to weather it is in fact paid back in full. Sanctions for default. That is a different place that my mind does not conceptual go in faith although I can comprehend it in fact.
Some, most statistically, even more by expanding the parameters of the survey do go there on faith. Our real established debt based monetary system is a reality that rides on the back of that belief based on faith model. A operating and application debt based social system created and maintained by those that designed it. So was slavery, monarchy, tyranny, etc......democracy.....and.....religion.
Debt based economics is a religion to be defended by its designers and their acolytes as the one true way.
All others are monkeys that have crazy ideas that just will not die but they should.
From the positive side view of the Monetary System Problem Domain the debt based system creators and defenders are..........conceptually challenged creatures that are to naturally become extinct unless converted to enlightenment. Extinguished or converted by function of collapse of their ivory tower that has a foundation beginning and ending of nothing. Debt money and all the application program ambiguities and failures in logic and reason to serve the common good that are made possible by its debt based operating system.
This is what it looks like to me:
The creators of the debt based monetary system assumed the position and power of a god to create something out of nothing that is analogous to life itself. Same model. Same assumption of power to dictate and recall the "loaning of life" back to its creator.
The positive flip side of absolute external power to create something out of nothing by a higher power is this: We endow ourselves with that power by self evident proclamation absolute truth with no concept of a balancing "nothingness" from which it emerged or is founded upon. The positive existence was always there. It is a matter of restorative justice that we have the right to claim it. There is no absence a priori foundation of a medium of exchange system. If there is any absence related to a monetary system it is that a debt based system will cease to exist and be the nothingness of its founding debt concept.
Positive based money will replace debt based money. It is a simple thing. Debt will continue to exist as a function of positive based money that once created (or transformed in a paradigm shift from debt based to positive base) never goes out of existence. Balance sheet accounting will only be applicable to loan/credit/debt applications of a Positive Money operating system. Balance Sheet accounting will not be the foundation of the system, simply an application that may involve interest functions.
Defenders of the Balance Sheet Foundation Base monetary system will not give it up until it is pried from their cold dead fingers. There is no alternative.
It is a social problem. Money is a social decision making tool for the allocation of resources. Leverage using a debt based system puts the power of the tool in the hands of a few along with a moral dilemma equal to that faced by politicians responsible and accountable for governance for public good.
The debt based monetary system is universal. Causing universal problems. Medium of exchange currency money system causes dysfunction because it is not an fundamentally a positive object of independent existence with attributes and methods of it own designed at the granular level. The medium of exchange is not an object, it is a function of accounting and exists as only a number to be manipulated in an accounting system.
Is the debt based balance sheet monetary operating system and related application programs the ultimate and lasting system of our medium of exchange with no evolution or revolution as necessary to become "more perfect" as we advance as a society in creating and applying the systems tools and their application in the Information Age...

Is our monetary system more like the model of our our nation where freedom is a conceptual positive object proclaimed into existence because it always was in self evident existence and our system design and application seeks to make it more perfect. We only owe freedom to ourselves in a system and function of our own design. A design that we have the courage to improve for the common good and will change it for that purpose.
Positive money is coming. Probably by revolution. A conceptual revolution that will happen very quickly when money is no longer a function of Balance Sheet Accounting. When Balance Sheet Accounting is something related to and relegated to a sectoral finance sub-system and its application functions of debt.
What indeed is this strange thing called digital block chain currency money. Where is its balance sheet equal and opposite counterpart. Looks like positive money operating system and application program to me.
It is a funny situation. Monkeys at the top of two trees chattering at each other.
The debt money tree monkeys saying their tree is the only tree to climb the only tree that can produce bananas. The top of their tree is as far as it goes because there is no advancement of a system and applications based on a foundation of continually producing a regeneration of something from nothing. It can only be refined by increased leverage and speeding up the cycle that produces the designed in spin offs.
The positive tree monkeys saying we have bananas too. They are the same bananas but they have substance not just skin wrappers conveniently functioning convey their profit benefit to the mouth but are recyclable entities that are block chain accounted for never really consumed or going out of existence. Much easier to control and more beneficial in use. Besides we have first senior rights to produce them. You don't.
The positive tree monkeys reply: If all you do is eat is based on the foundation of using the same uniquely identified and perpetual banana over and over again instead of growing it from nothing and then returning it to nothing over and over again.........
Then (politely stated )..................
Eat what those bananas become as they are used and recycled.............you stupid monkeys.
Man emerged from monkeys when they took a different evolutionary path.

Is the debt based balance sheet monetary operating system and related application programs the ultimate and lasting system of our medium of exchange with no evolution or revolution as necessary to become "more perfect" as we advance as a society in creating and applying the systems tools and their application in the Information Age...

Is our monetary system more like the model of our our nation where freedom is a conceptual positive object proclaimed into existence because it always was in self evident existence and our system design and application seeks to make it more perfect. We only owe freedom to ourselves in a system and function of our own design. A design that we have the courage to improve for the common good and will change it for that purpose.
Positive money is coming. Probably by revolution. A conceptual revolution that will happen very quickly when money is no longer a function of Balance Sheet Accounting. When Balance Sheet Accounting is something related to and relegated to a sectoral finance sub-system and its application functions of debt.
What indeed is this strange thing called digital block chain currency money. Where is its balance sheet equal and opposite counterpart. Looks like positive money operating system and application program to me.
It is a funny situation. Monkeys at the top of two trees chattering at each other.
The debt money tree monkeys saying their tree is the only tree to climb the only tree that can produce bananas. The top of their tree is as far as it goes because there is no advancement of a system and applications based on a foundation of continually producing a regeneration of something from nothing. It can only be refined by increased leverage and speeding up the cycle that produces the designed in spin offs.
The positive tree monkeys saying we have bananas too. They are the same bananas but they have substance not just skin wrappers conveniently functioning convey their profit benefit to the mouth but are recyclable entities that are block chain accounted for never really consumed or going out of existence. Much easier to control and more beneficial in use. Besides we have first senior rights to produce them. You don't.
The positive tree monkeys reply: If all you do is eat is based on the foundation of using the same uniquely identified and perpetual banana over and over again instead of growing it from nothing and then returning it to nothing over and over again.........
Then (politely stated )..................
Eat what those bananas become as they are used and recycled.............you stupid monkeys.
Man emerged from monkeys when they took a different evolutionary path.
Monkeys remained monkeys when they did not have or use the power to conceptualized something other than eating bananas that they defined their reason for being and they could pick them out of thin air.

Ethan Couch - Affluenza Kid on the Run
Update 29 Dec: Kid caught!
Update, 20 Dec.: 9 days now since the first report and he still is not found. Every day adds geometric embarrassment for Federal officials that can't, with all the surveillance means at their disposal can't find a kid and mom on the run. It may be an insignificant thing but if they do not up it to terrorist level attention soon public opinion will increasingly notice. These things go viral. It took how many days to catch them? Soon to be comedy fodder! Trump is old stuff filler when new stuff is not available. Yawn. Comedy as news has to work off today's news. Or snooze. No laughs.

It does not take much searching to find the Affluenza Kid, Ethan Couch.....At least on Google. This is a search on "Affluenza" Limit it to 24 hours if searched today. He is very easily found immediately and recently on Google.
They may be rich but they are not smart. All they have is a lot of money in ignorant hands, no comment on their brains.
The point is that there is a "Man Hunt" of a significant level of attention nation wide. He and his mother can run but they cannot hide? How long they can remain hidden depends on how smart they are to evade surveillance discovery. I would think that minimum investigation of credit cards, bank accounts and internet would find them quickly. If they left the country then that fact should be readily discoverable.
It will be interesting to see how long it takes to catch two probably inept fugitives to be caught. Can their money compensate for ineptness. Might they would go to someone exceptionally skilled at covering their tracks at a substantial price. Are there specialists that do that?
$5,000.00 reward on his head. That should spur some investigative and tracking interest! The Feds are offering the reward. This is a high level national interest newsworthy event. The Feds know that. With all their resources the public will become increasingly disturbed that they cannot catch this dumb kid and his mother that are probably not as smart as terrorists. Every day he is free will bring added embarrassment.

Humans Are Slamming Into Driverless Cars and Exposing a Key Flaw

To begin: There is and never will be a driverless car! I repeat......etc....and again!
There will always be a driver. The question of who/what it may be is a matter of responsibility and accountability.
I am convinced that the true purpose of an Artificial Intelligence controlled car is to drive better and safer than a human by greater degrees of ability. Sometimes in some circumstance the AI will not be as good as a human. An instance of less than perfect AI control is the price to pay for an overall substantial increase in safety. One person may be injured or die for every 100 that otherwise would not in the gross statistical analysis. Lesser of two evils.
The problem is that AI controlled cars drive exactly in accordance with the law. Humans do not. Driving prudently and exactly in accordance with the law causes more accidents with human drivers that are not prudent and violate the law. Hmmm........This may be the exact purpose of the AI car: To absolutely prove fault. Fault that will be assigned most often to a human driver. There is an insurance angle in this!
The answer? To have AI cars drive more like "normal drivers" that are not prudent, no always, without exception driving in strict accord with all traffic and driving laws? Who is going to program that kind of AI. When an accident goes to adjudication of some sort and the car AI is proven to be in violation of the law by virtue of its programming???? What kind of situation is that? Sue the programmer? Their employer?
Self driving cars are all about recording and storing every single driving action of a human in real time. Even when it is not the driver in command when it is recording and storing its own behavior. This is the generation of information for a variety of mass surveillance of driving history for data mining purposes many of which are yet to be dreamed up and they will benefit those that profit from the schemes designed to "make our lives safer, easier, more fun....etc...whatever the marketing types dream up to sell this thing.
