Jeff Merkly partnered with him long ago. Since then I have wondered about the secret sauce Jon brings to the relationship. Must be good. The point of this picture is the response feedback to what was said. Surprised me when I saw it. Democrat of course but both sides are voting by action and expression throughout the entire thing. One snapshot is not an indicator of position nor future performance.

Everybody was "voting" but the "votes" were not being recorded for analysis. Human or AI.
I don't think that anyone, especially politicians in attendance could fake or skew real position on anything said. Some more expressive than others.
These two subjects happened to be in the same video cutaway. Purely location driven. Like Amazon marketing, any two persons in attendance could be compared and evaluated side by side for same time frame comparison response.
AI can do the legwork and some of the analysis but at the most subtle and even intuitive level humans are still ahead. Objective/ Subjective thing.

We did it! Palantir has officially been dropped as a sponsor of the Privacy Law Scholars' Conference at UC Berkeley. This victory is thanks to you and everyone who signed the petition, Tweeted, shared our posts, and made your voices heard.
We welcome the decision by Privacy Law Scholars Conference in Berkeley to drop their ties with Palantir. Palantir’s technology provides direct support for ICE to separate immigrant families, and UC Berkeley should not provide free publicity or access to this or any other company that aligns itself with Trump's anti-immigrant agenda. People are being deported, children are being caged, and Palantir is knowingly facilitating these deeds.
Palantir is not just any vendor. It does not simply sell off-the-shelf solutions to government agencies. When it contracts with the government, Palantir provides “ongoing training and support” to their government counterparts, helping them configure their systems for optimal use.
Those who care about human rights must not only push back on the governments that violate them but also the companies that enable them. This is why we call on recruitment offices and academic conferences everywhere to drop their ties with Palantir until the company cancels its contract with ICE.

Palantir as a magical atrefact is and intersesting description of an alternate meaning of the word!
The subject of this blog entry is a link to a ProPublica report.
Private funding provided to buy things for a public agency. Private funding that does not necessarily become subject to rules and procedures applicable to public funds. Basically, non-appropriated funding supplement to appropriated government funding.
It would seem to be the drug dealers model: "Try this, you'll like it. Here, take it, its free." Come back for some more......(that's when I score).
Private funding via direct corporate donation of money or material. Indirect funding through Police Chief private professional association agencies. Indirect funding through any agency claiming to be a supporter of civil order. It gets a foot in the door and gets it there generally without public oversight, controls or transparency via private money channels carrying "earmarked" or preferential strings.
A model with the same "look and feel" is private donations to public schools on selective school basis. Illegal in some places. Donations by wealthy parents to public schools that just happen to be the geographical or preferred public school attended by the children of public schools. A super "bake sale" to buy computers, etc. The things that the school could not otherwise afford.
What can go wrong with privately supporting the public good? The answer is in who benefits, how and why as well as the flip side who is adversely affected. In the case of law enforcement, criminals are adversely affected and everyday is open season on them. Privacy rights are also adversely affected and criminal or not it is open season on rights as well. The "village has to be burned to expose the criminal" justification. We all have to give up some privacy. Maybe true but there are no effective public controls over authoritarian decisions about what is best for us. Public controls of the government or media type.
Palantir is a producer and systems aggregater of information intelligence (spy) hardware and software. Originating at the national level intelligence agencies and expanding to the local level law enforcement agencies primarily in large cities and through Fusion Centers as the integrating entity between national and local intelligence.
The software intelligence system is fully integrated from the national to the local level but the hardware to gather intelligence to feed the system at the local level is not. Both a demand for the hardware as well as the funding to obtain it at the local level has to be created. Demand by law enforcement is easy and stimulated by private sectoral private enterprise aggregated associations hosting Private expos for public agencies to attend to view the offerings and, let me guess, get a few free samples in the private suites by invitation only. What is the line between a soft and hard bribe? Is the mere generous offer "to help you, the public official in your fight against crime" a bribe?
Palantir is blatant in their public promotion of its systems across the board from strictly private enterprise to government agencies. It integrates everything with an "all information, all the time" model. Blatant? Look at the slick presentations produced by Planatir. These are not releases of classified info but commercial bragging of what they can do for their customer.

J. P. Morgan Chase is a customer for Palantir cyber fraud detection explained in the course of the You Tube link. How is cyber fraud detected? By sifting through the entire haystack for the fraud needles. What exactly might be looked at along the way that is not related to cyber fraud? Why, simply everything. The same model as a virus protection service looking at everything in an enterprise's files, programs and data to detect a virus. The "we have to examine everything to detect anything" method, qualified by the contradiction: "But we do not look at things we do not need to look at, and if we do we do not take action on it (because we looked at it and determined that no action was necessary, just an innocent by-stander).
It is absolutely amazing how a company like Palantir can publicly reveal exactly what their business is, its customers and what their hardware and software intelligence systems actually do.
Blatant? Go to this link at the Palantir site. "Philanthropy Engineering". This is how they get their foot in the door. Philanthropy to save lives.
"Our Philanthropy Engineering team applies Palantir’s people, products, and resources—always at a deep discount and often for free—to support initiatives and organizations dedicated to improving and saving human lives."
The site goes on to define the domain of saving lives: All extremely noble in their 2013 report. An extremely slick report produced by a probably high end PR company or a deep pocket in house effort.
Wake up! Palantir has CIA origins!What is this the new model of secrecy called "Hide in Plain Sight"?
Back to the Humanitarian Responsein the Palantir 2013 report. It is a model to demonstrate response to a natural disaster. That model is no different than response to a fomented disaster to take control of domestic or foreign situation. It is a legitimate test bed for situation command and control domination.
Look at the Veterans portion of Palantir's philanthropy:Gathering all information to help a target demographic. This is another blatant test model. One that tugs at the patriotic heart strings covered with good intent. The same system could be aimed at any selected demographic. It is the slickest piece of PR I have ever seen that runs cover for a hidden agenda. It should get a Oscar for illusion.

Planatir Metropolisis a general purpose intelligence tool that can be aimed at any demographic. I have a free range learning model that wanders the WWW in a vaguely relational way to put things together in my head. The blog is a trail of my roaming over years. It gets hits to pump numbers. It is the trail made by a procession of things I am interested in. It helps me know where I have been as some refining directional indicator of where to go next.
Nobody has ever looked at my other blog : https://bendforestland.blogspot.com/. All zeros in the hit column. It is where I collect information and thoughts entirely for my own benefit.
A few property owners of a total of 89 acres in the City of Bend are assessed a value of $77.07 per acre on Designated Forestland that would otherwise be assessed at least at $100,000. Many have an expensive home on a big low tax (minimum 2 acre to qualify) back yard. Taint fair but it is the law and it is avoidance not evasion. That is a model on the National Level too but not something I can do anything about. Locally I can. It used to be that people in town went out of town to cut timber for the mill to make a living. Now they are growing (money on) the trees in their back yard for a mill that no longer exists!

ORS is a bag of relative spaghetti that you made into a relational, searchable system. I have been roaming OAR, particularly Oregon Dept. of Revenue to discover why trees grown within residential zoned city limits for future timber market sale warrant an assessed value of $77.07 per acre. It is a woods to easily get lost in. Other areas of county property tax are equally mysterious. I discovered this by pick and shovel data mining. I need better tools. You made one for ORS.
The domain of OAR is a tough place to navigate in an attempt to connect the dots among an indexing system with few or no linkages or links to .pdf. Ugh! Recently I discovered that Secretary of State did some organizing: http://sos.oregon.gov/archives/Pages/oregon_administrative_rules.aspx. This is new.

There is apparently no search ability across all OAR like for ORS at http://OregonLaws.org. It requires a drill down through departments to a very low level to learn anything. It is a digital table of contents that link to deparments chapter and verse content. It is not relational, relatable within the entire domain. It is a small step barely more useful than a list of .pdf titles. It is an old school bean counter legacy organizational silo system with digital lipstick. Not useful like a coded system to discover inconsistency, anomaly, failures in logic, reason, consistency, integrity etc. in the total system by relating this to that with a function in between . Not stuff to make the entire Marshmallow more integrated and solid.
Is that something that could be done?

I am not a coder. I can barely claim to see a big picture but I know when something is wrong with it. I think the correction will only come from bottom up aggregation of classes of things teasing out those that do not functionally mesh across the board in a legacy system designed from the top down. Its simply QA The legacy system essentially gets bottom up source feedback from special interests (ambiguity and lack of precision transparency is a feature not a bug) having something to gain in a zero sum game with Public Interest. What is needed are analysis and investigative ground level bug killing tools in the hands of the public, at least a small skilled and motivated segment, that know how to use the tech tool for leverage and public benefit.
You code as well as use the tools you create. No need to explain how this gets us where we want to go instead of where we are being driven.
