There is a fundamental OneToMany and ManyToOne object relationship here.
One(Speaker) to Many(Audiance). In an EducationalDomain. Rules prohibit a One to One relationship during period of presentation. There are some aspects of Teacher/Students relationships here. Students are not allowed to disrupt the course of presentation with questions or allowed by prior consent of the teacher.
Kind of a riff shouting Fire(False) in a theater is not FreeSpeech. It disrupts the performance and is likely to be detrimental to the safety and well being of the audience.
Rights are not to be infringed upon.......leads to interesting analysis.
Those that make the rules........Rule!
We proclaim these rules to be self evident.................? or is it Thee?
Who Rules? When? By whose choice and circumstances? Who confers Rights and who judges?
Applause, an expression of many to one is an accepted many to one response that is also a one to one relationship. An instance of Audience (student) sending a message (free speech to send) to an Instance of DesignatedPresenterOnStage.
Interesting to analyze how that message was went by the students attending DeVos at Harvard:

If a many to one message Response(Applause) is acceptable why isn't a many to one message of Response(AcceptedDisapprovalChoiceOfMessageMedium) Allowed? What may not be allowed by one to one relationship (SingleStudentApplauseAbsentManyStudentApplause) is allowed in a ManyToOnApplauseRelatioship.
Perhaps the discourse relationship should be allowed to be punctuated with a Yea/Nay many to one expression as is the allowed Parliament norm.
Spontaneous applause is an interesting social phenomenon to analyze. There is an emotional tendency to precipitate it in certain circumstances and an general emotional reluctance for many to spontaneously reply by a negative message. One may get up and walk out, stand with back turned. It initiates a throw down for the expression of others in a similar manner.
The old vaudeville Boo the Villein and Cheer the Hero is an interesting form of acceptable spontaneous social audience expression in an entertainment venue.
A single woman stood up and said Booo to Weinstein and look what happened.

A single kid cried out that the King had no clothes on.
Tillerson said Trump was a Moron and certainly caused a lot of disruption.
I would applaud the person that stood up and walked out or turned their back here:

Courage. A student is not allowed to do that to a speaker.
A citizen is not allowed to do that to a President.
Silent single non-disruptive free expression.
Trump approval is at an all time low.
