Taking a Bigger Look

My last post to this blog was Feb 1st.  I have been traveling and thinking.  This week I observed my 73 birthday.  I have now outlived my father.  Today finds me in San Diego.  The Nexus of so many of my past experiences starting with the memory of passing the Navy Supply Center building when I was 9 years old.  Conceivably I might have be the CO of that supply center had I not retired when I did.  My first ship was tied up in front of it.

So much to think about.  The personal things in life as well as in the back of my mind all the things that I have written about in this blog.

Taking the bigger view of this blog it all seems so simple to separate what money is from what money does and give the monetary unit of measurement entity its own identity attributes independent of what it does, what economic entities do with it as a medium of exchange.  Until we design a better money object beyond being a number in an entity owning account we will never have the control of what it does to the extent that we collectively, for the general welfare of us all, can control what it does for us.

Plain and simple.

The other thing I look at is Information Management.  The broader genera aspect of Monetary System design integrating what a thing is with what it does in an operating system.  Surveillance has been the specific focus because it is through surveillance collection systems that all the information about anything but more specifically us is collected.  Then it is analyzed to create knowledge to apply to managing or control for some purpose.  Profit.  Security.  Perhaps the general welfare and advancement of our collective hopes and dreams.

How is that working for us?

It is not.

Because the control of the operating system is all in the hands at the top level.  At that level, government or corporate, or the lash up between the two, they know increasingly about us.  That increasing knowledge feeds back into enhancing objectives of government and business and the combination of the two.  Those objectives are the ones chosen by those at the top.....For our benefit.

We have little relative ability to collect and analyze unlimited information about government and business entities.  The media was our source of collection and analysis.  Media is a tool.  Money manages it.  Our money only buys its product, not the means of production aimed at what we want it to do for us.  The balance of power is way out of balance.

It is a situation of information asymmetry.  That golden situation where one entity in a relationship has advantageous information that the other entity does not and uses it to their advantage and often in a moral hazard situation to sub-optimize the results to their advantage or agenda.  Without equal opportunity to collect information on an "Open Source" public basis the entity: "Public US" will always be at the short end of the deal aimed at maximum extraction from the host by the self serving few and powerful for return to the host.  At least enough to keep it alive or to control it if it thinks about a better way of governing the Big Operating System of government and this thing we glorify as the Free Private Enterprise.

This link brings me back to looking at the big picture with fresh eyes:

http://concurringopinions.com/archives/2016/03/a-social-theory-of-surveillance.html

Surveillance of everything.  Data mining what money does as well as what citizens do.   Data mining focused on whatever the verb is in the relationship between two objects.  Focus on the surveillance of the verb to manage the object that initiates the action and the object that receives it.

More sensors on the action create more information for control of the object entities involved.  That means all of us.  It is revealing that the lab work for all of this is being done in highly controlled social environment.  Physically controlled or controlled through other barriers to either entry or exit.  In that lab applications of the operating system are being developed for public consumption.  Consumption through demand creation or forced acceptance.

The public in return, except for control of the commons through Open Source has little in its arsenal to combat the asymmetry of the existing broad structure of government and business operating system control and application development that is promoted as "serving us and our interests".

The public will not have that control unless it seizes it at the critical core of the governance operating system.

That core is money and transparency of what money does.  The transparency of what money does at the macro level of the entire system, not just the consumer level depends on what the design attributes of money as a thing are.

This is the mandatory change in the system necessary for us to control our own governance:

Money must be an entity that is not created by an debt based operating system.  Debt is only an application of money as a pre-existing entity that has no relationship to counter party for its existence.

The Information Age not only makes this fundamental operating system change possible but demands in logic that it be done for our general public welfare and benefit.

Information Asymmetry:   http://gawker.com/watch-a-local-news-reporter-get-arrested-while-requesti-1766877022
This is simply access to the product of information generating applications.  It is impossible for any citizen to have access to the operating system that produces this information.  That is owned and controlled by government and business entities.  Having access to the product of the operating system is not only valuable in itself but also exposes the operating system structure that produces it.

A revolution is coming.  A revolution that will target the basic Operating System, not just its application program output.

The leaders will not be ones that emerge from the general public.  They will be those in government, business, academics, non-profits and maybe even religion (strange but true?) that will benefit the most from the general anger of the people to revise the Monetary Operating System that is the cause of the problem.
